Asian Paints may gain on strong Q4 outcome

Asian Paints on Friday, 9 May 2008, reported 41.9% growth in consolidated net profit to Rs 94.52 crore on 18.1% growth in sales to Rs 1133.04 crore in Q4 March 2008 over Q4 March 2007.

Novartis India on Friday reported 10% fall in net profit to Rs 21.53 crore on 5.4% growth in net sales to Rs 130.56 crore in Q4 March 2008 over Q4 March 2007.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said on Friday, 9 May 2008, it is raising vehicle prices in the range of 1.5% to 2.5% due to rise in input costs. The hikes will come into effect from 19 May 2008.

Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) has taken over engineering firm Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels, Bhel said on Saturday, 10 May 2008. Bhel also signed a memorandum of understanding with Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corp for setting up a 125 megawatt coal-based power plant.

Bharti Airtel is considering raising its offer to around 175 South African rand ($22.63) a share for control of mobile operator MTN Group, the Asian Wall Street Journal said on Monday, 12 May 2008. Bharti had earlier said that it was in exploratory talks for a stake in MTN.

Companies announcing March 2008 quarter results today include Blue Star, Dewan Housing Finance, Graphite India, Indiabulls Real Estate, RCF, SEL Manufacturing, and Unitech Laboratories.
